Beaumont Commons, Dearborn, formerly Oakwood Common, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on a beautifully maintained and spacious 29-acre campus along the historic Rouge River Gateway in Dearborn. This intimate, friendly community includes 200 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living apartments and 32 memory care apartments.
Originally known as Oakbrook Common, the community’s first residents moved into independent and assisted living apartments in 1991. Our name changed to Oakwood Common in January 1995 as part of the Oakwood Healthcare System. In April 2018 our campus was renamed Beaumont Commons, Dearborn, to reflect our affiliation with Beaumont Health.
As a CCRC, we offer a continuum of care—serving residents’ needs as they change over time while ensuring their privacy and independence. Our campus includes spacious apartments with modern amenities for Independent Living, and Dementia/Alzheimer’s Care along with Beaumont Rehabilitation and Continuing Care.
Over the years, we’ve invested in ongoing upgrades to our campus including, more recently–a Bistro café, Connolly’s lounge, movie theater, computer room, fitness center, relaxing spas, free basic cable and campus-wide Internet access, and more. Unlike some communities, our residents are not assessed for these upgrades and additions.
Residents enjoy daily enrichment activities that keep pace with the younger lifestyle of today’s seniors. We are constantly adding new features, including a sensory stimulating Namaste Room in the fall of 2014. We’ll also be introducing some exciting new amenities and services to our assisted living area that further demonstrate why “Beaumont Commons, Dearborn is Senior Living at Its Best!”
Our Bistro Café
Our Bistro café is a campus favorite. It’s a great place to select from delicious casual dining options. This modern bistro includes a stone hearth pizza oven—where professional chefs prepare personal- to family-sized pizzas with toppings of your choice. Open morning to evening daily, select from an outstanding variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and more, with carryout available.
Adjacent to the Bistro café is “Connolly’s Lounge,” a comfortable retreat with bar and fireplace where residents relax and socialize with friends and family.
